With the establishment of Platon Infrastructure, the fast growing Information Management (IM) consultancy, Platon, strengthens its technical profile. Platon Infrastructure focuses on advisory and implementation services around IT infrastructure. Platon Infrastructure supplements the Platon Group’s core business of Business Intelligence and Data Management with a strong technical arm, in order to solve clients’ general challenges in administering, optimizing and operating systems hardware and software, primarily on Windows platforms.
“In our existing IM business, we have identified a strong demand for expertise within the area of IT infrastructure. We often experience that clients’ existing IT capacity is not fully exploited and that they can save several million DKK in annual costs if the IT capacity is used correctly”, says Michael Borges, CEO of the Platon Group.
“Even in a recession, data volumes grow with huge growth rates, as do requirements towards the IT operations. Instead of an optimal exploitation of the server- and storage capacity, many companies buy additional capacity without knowing their real needs. Platon Infrastructure can optimize the utilization of the existing capacity and ensure that decisions on hardware purchases are based on insight from the existing Data Centre”, says Frank Dannacher, newly appointed Managing Director of Platon Infrastructure.
One of the unique features of Platon Infrastructure’s services is the use of Platon InSense™, which is a standardized Business Intelligence solution for decision support in IT operations. The service gives a real overview of server and storage capacity as well as utilization and is based on the clients’ own infrastructure data. As a result, IT operation managers are better at making decisions and implementing optimization projects e.g. also in Information Lifecycle Management (ILM).
According to Michael Borges there is a strong need for advisory and decision support in IT operations, which is also supported by several industry analysts. “To our surprise companies with large IT infrastructures often do not have a precise overview of their servers, e.g. where they are and/or what they do. The configuration of these servers is not optimized to their actual use, and an under-utilized server capacity is thus often a common issue.
This could imply that the IT applications are slower than the actual potential, leading to user frustration. We can, help our clients utilize and optimize the existing hardware and at the same time support clients’ decisions on new hardware investments”, says Michael Borges.
Dedicated team with industry heavyweightsPlaton Infrastructure has gathered some of the leading experts in the IT industry. The key profiles from the previous ILM team in the Platon Group have been transferred to Platon Infrastructure, and they have been supplemented with Michael Frandsen, formerly employed at Baunwall, a specialized consultancy. Michael Frandsen is an international capacity within configuration, sizing and optimization of e.g. HP and Microsoft platforms.
Platon Infrastructure is already working with several large clients in Denmark and the Nordic region.
