Meta Data Management

Any guru in Business Intelligence and Information Management will tell you, that Meta Data is the most important tool in administration of their information recourses, such as, a Data Warehouse. However an effective utilization (value) of Meta Data requires that you are able to manage the capture, integration and maintenance of the Meta Data. This requires focus.
Content: As a participant you will learn what Meta Data is and get a heads up view of both the business and technical aspect of Me-ta Data Management. You will learn how to achieve business value through the gathering, integration and usage of Meta Data in your company. You will learn a specific approach on how to this.

  • A usable definition of Meta Data
  • The different groups and subtypes of Meta Data
  • Understanding the value of having good Meta Data
  • Understanding the similarities and the differences to “normal” data
  • Capturing and integrating Meta Data across different IT systems
  • Building an Meta Data architecture
  • Meta Data Governance
  • Establishing a roadmap for Meta Data value
  • Introduction to the vendor technology available
  • Practical exercises, individual and in groups
Attendees are encouraged to contribute with some of the challenges that they face in their daily work.

Target audience: This course applies to Meta Data architects, developers and users, who are going to work with Meta Data in an Information Management context.
Attendee requirements: Practical experience on developing or managing e.g. Business Intelligence or Master Data solutions will be an advantage. Participants should have knowledge of Business Intelligence and Meta Data on a similar level as the course Introduc-tion to Business Intelligence & Data Warehousing.
